From 1977 to 1980, Mr. Blasina was In-house Counsel for the then International Woodworkers of America, Regional Council No. 1, covering Western Canada. He then went into private practice in labour law, and, in 1987, he began practicing as a consensually appointed arbitrator/mediator.
Mr. Blasina is experienced in arbitration/mediation, in the private, public, provincial, federal, and transnational sectors, including the following areas/industries: aircraft, airline, armoured car, brewery and wine, broadcasting, construction, courier, education (K to 12, and post secondary), energy and petrochemical, film, finance, fire department, forestry (logging, lumber, pulp and paper), government, grocery, hospital and health care, hospitality, First Nations, insurance, longshore and drayage, manufacturing, marine (harbour, coastal, ferry), mining, newspaper, office and clerical, postal service, printing, retail, road maintenance, shipyard, telecommunications, theatre, transit, trucking and warehousing.
In 2011, Mr. Blasina retired from law, and received an appointment to the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal, concluding in 2016.
