B.A. - McGill; L.L.B - Osgoode Hall; Q.C. - 1976. Mr. Sanderson has co-authored a leading textbook on ADR published by Carswell, entitled "Innovative Dispute Resolution: The Alternative". He has authored a textbook on arbitration entitled "Labour Arbitrations and All That" and also a book on collective bargaining entitled "The Art of Collective Bargaining", both published by Canada Law Book.
Background:
Acted as mediator, facilitator and arbitrator in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Northwest Territories, in commercial transactions, including insurance claims and corporate contractual disputes, in construction matters and disputes, in environmental disputes, in inter-governmental disputes, employment matters and in relation to aboriginal claims. Ombudsperson to B.C. Hydro and B.C. Transmission Corporation. Court appointed arbitrator with respect to Hepatitis C Class Action claims.
Advised a wide variety of public and private sector parties across Canada in all aspects of conflict resolution and dispute settlement including: designing effective conflict resolution systems; providing training and advice on the operation of such systems; conducting conflict and relationship audits; facilitation; mediation; arbitration; the negotiation of collective agreements; advice and opinions on the full range of dispute settlement matters.
Representative parties have ranged from most trade unions to the Federal Government, Governments of Ontario and the Northwest Territories, municipal governments and agencies, major banks and financial institutions, health care bodies and institutions, construction companies and associations, resource industries, manufacturing concerns, professional organizations, national airlines, public utilities, universities and school boards, non-profit organizations, small manufacturers, public interest groups and aboriginal councils and organizations.
